When taking a substance intravenously, your body will be able to absorb almost all of it, making it incredibly efficient.
The medical field has come a long way over the years, and there are all kinds of ways to improve your health. A very modern treatment that more people are starting to use is IV drips. IV therapy can help people who are feeling drained, suffering from chronic fatigue, brain fog, or having muscle weakness.
So how long does an IV drip take? In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know. Keep reading for more.
What to Expect From IV Therapy
At The Wellness Lab, we offer mobile IV therapy. We do this because many people who need it are feeling fatigued or drained. When you’re in this state, you need to be resting.
Our team consists of RNs with a Medical Director overseeing everything. One of our RNs will come out to your home to conduct your treatment. All of our nurses have strong clinical backgrounds and will start by taking a look at your medical history and assessing your vital signs.
We have a selection of IV vitamin infusions available. The nurse will show you a menu and will be able to suggest which ones are most suitable based on your situation. You also have the option to create a custom infusion.
We’ll then provide you with a consent form to sign for services rendered. If everything looks good, they’ll start your IV therapy.
Bear in mind we have a clinic in Naples, FL. You can come here for consultations and infusions if you prefer.
How Long Does an IV Drip Take
There are multiple stages to your IV therapy treatment. These can vary slightly, and may not be the same for other IV therapy providers.
How Long It Takes to Get to Your Home
You can book your appointment through our website and select a time that you want your nurse to arrive. They’ll always endeavor to get there on time, but please allow for up to 30 minutes of travel time after your scheduled appointment. Bear in mind that there may be additional travel rates if the location is outside of a 15-mile radius of our center in Naples.
Time to Administer
It doesn’t take too much time, and you’ll usually be done within about 30-45 minutes. There are a few factors that can make things take a bit longer such as your age, weight, and the type of IV you choose. In most cases, however, you can expect this kind of time frame.
Time Until You See the Effects
This is something else that can vary, but most people will start feeling the effects as soon as the treatment is finished. If you don’t notice the effect immediately, however, don’t worry. It can take a bit longer in some cases.
One thing to note is that people tend to feel things quicker on their first IV therapy treatment. If you’ve done it before, it could take a bit longer in subsequent sessions. Even so, it’s still a quick process, and you can enjoy the benefits of IV therapy for as long as you want to do more sessions.
Effect Duration
Everyone’s body reacts differently to IV therapy, both in terms of how long it takes to start feeling the effects, as well as how long the effects last. It’s important to note that the type of vitamin infusion you go for will also play a large part.
Our “Too Much to Drink Drip” is ideal after a night out, and can help you recover quickly the following morning. With one of these, you might feel the effects for anywhere from 45 minutes to about four hours.
If you instead opt for an infusion that will boost your energy levels, you’re likely to feel the effects for several days. Each infusion is different, and you can get a better idea of the duration of the effects when you speak to one of our nurses.
Factors That Can Affect the Duration
We can only give rough guidelines as to how long the effects of your IV therapy will last. Beyond the particular infusion you go for, there are several other factors that can determine the duration.
Hydration Level
The first factor is your hydration level, as this will affect how well your body retains the fluid from the IV infusion. If you’re well hydrated, you’ll be more likely to urinate sooner so any excess IV fluids will leave your body more quickly.
Illness
You may be more likely to want an IV infusion when you’re feeling under the weather. Illnesses can affect various biological processes and may cause dehydration. Even if you feel like you’ve been drinking enough water, your hydration levels may be lower when you’re ill, and this can make the effects of your IV infusion last longer.
Metabolic Rate
Your metabolic rate determines how many calories your body naturally burns. This is different for everyone and typically sits between 1400 and 2000 calories per day for most Americans.
If you have a high metabolism, your body will absorb nutrients faster, and fluids will flow through your body more quickly. Naturally, the opposite will happen if you have a low metabolism. This means that those with a higher metabolism are likely to feel the effects of an IV infusion more immediately, but these effects won’t last as long.
